The regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Henderson, Nebraska was held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at City Hall in Henderson, Nebraska. Notice of this meeting was published in the March 6, 2014 Henderson News and posted at the City Hall and Post Office.

                Mayor Ken Bergen called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.   Mayor Bergen declared the meeting to be legal and properly advertised with all members having been informed of the nature of the meeting and having received related information.  Mayor Bergen also referred to the open meetings law poster at the back of the council chambers. 

                Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Ken Bergen.  Council members: Mike Wall, Lee Thiessen, Scott Erb and Jim Mestl. Others present: city employees, Corbin, Tessman, Rob Mierau and Jeb Mierau.

                Minutes from the February 12, 2014 meeting were reviewed. Jim Mestl made a motion to approve the minutes as presented.  Scott Erb seconded.  Roll vote: Ayes - Jim Mestl, Scott Erb, Mike Wall and Lee Thiessen. Motion carried.

                Claims were reviewed.  Mike Wall made a motion to approve the claims as presented. Lee Thiessen seconded.  Roll vote: Ayes -Mike Wall, Lee Thiessen, Jim Mestl and Scott Erb. Motion carried.

                One permit was issued for a demolition of a house.

                In public forum, York County Commissioner Bill Bamesberger reported the County put the paving of County Road 7 from 17th Street to the east edge 18th Street of the new subdivision on the 1 & 6 Year Street Program.

                Lisa Hurley of York County Development Corporation gave an overview of the involvement and accomplishments with the towns in York County.

                Kevin Friesen from the Henderson Coop gave the council a report on what will be taking place during their remodeling this summer.

                Ken Bergen declared his conflict of interest for the Providence Subdivision public hearing and turned the meeting over to Scott Erb, President of the Council.

                At 7:30, Scott Erb opened the public hearing for the consideration and adoption of the Providence Subdivision Final Plat.

                Ayars & Ayars representatives were present to give an overview of the plat.  After discussion of the plat, Scott Erb closed the public hearing at 7:47.

                Jim Mestl made a motion to adopt Ordinance #402, an ordinance accepting and approving the final plat of Providence Subdivision of the City of Henderson and to suspend the 3 readings on 3 different days.  Mike Wall seconded.  Roll vote: Ayes - Jim Mestl, Mike Wall, Lee Thiessen and Scott Erb.  Motion carried.

                The clerk will contact Perennial Public Power, Source Gas Company and Mainstay Communications to discuss time frame of installing utilities.

                At 7:48, Ken Bergen resumed the position of Mayor.

                Ayars & Ayars gave an update on the progress of the Main Street reconstruction.  Surveying has been completed and the drainage is being evaluated at this time.  No formal action was taken.  The plan is to go to bids in January and have Main Street under construction next summer.

                Mike Wall and Rob Mierau had a sample of the countertop to be installed at the ballfield concession stand to withstand the moisture coming through the rolldown windows.  The price will be $1,497 installed.

                Lee Thiessen made a motion to approve the removal of old paint,seal and paint the swimming pool bathhouse floor and not to exceed $4,000.  Scott Erb seconded.  Scott Erb seconded.  Roll vote: Ayes - Lee Thiessen, Scott Erb, Mike Wall and Jim Mestl.  Motion carried.

                Reports were given.  Scott Erb is going to meet with Vankirk Brothers to discuss updating the south lift sewer station pit.  No formal action was taken.

                Mike Wall made a motion to adjourn.  Lee Thiessen seconded.  Roll vote: Ayes - Mike Wall, Lee Thiessen, Jim Mestl and Scott Erb.
