Article 4. Fire Safety

§7-401               FIRE PREVENTION; EXITS; CHAIRS IN AISLES. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person, firm, association or corporation, or their agents, who have control or use of any opera house, hall, church or other building resorted to by the people of the City of Henderson, Nebraska, for worship, amusement or for public assemblages, to fail to provide such opera house, hall, church or other building with suitable, ample and sufficient means of exit and entrance. No chairs or seats of any description shall be placed or allowed to remain in the aisle or aisles of said buildings during the time when any meeting or entertainment is in progress.

§7-402               FIRE PREVENTION; FALSE FIRE ALARM PROHIBITED. It shall be unlawful for any person intentionally to and without reasonable cause to raise any false alarm of fire.

 §7-403                            FIRE PREVENTION; ADOPTION OF FIRE PREVENTION CODE. There is hereby adopted by the City of Henderson for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion, that certain code known as the Fire Prevention Code, Abbreviated Edition, recommended by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, being particularly the 1970 edition thereof, and the whole thereof, of which code not less than three (3) copies have been and now are filed in the office of the city clerk of the City of Henderson and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this ordinance shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the City of Henderson.

§7-404               FIRE PREVENTION; DELETIONS FROM FIRE PREVENTION CODE HEREBY ADOPTED. The Fire Prevention Code, Abbreviated Edition, hereby adopted is amended and changed in the following respects:

Article 6, Fireworks, of the Fire Prevention Code, Abbreviated Edition, hereby adopted, is deleted in its entirety. For regulations concerning fireworks see Section 7-201 of this code.

§7-405               FIRE PREVENTION; STORAGE OF GASOLINE AND OTHER FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS IN OR AT INDIVIDUAL RESIDENCES. The fire prevention code, abbreviated addition, as adopted herein, and provisions therein to the contrary notwithstanding, no person shall store in or about his residence within the corporate limits of the City any quantity of gasoline or other flammable liquid in excess of five (5) U.S. gallons. For purposes of this section, storage “in or about a residence” shall include all storage whether above or below ground, in the open or in buildings, cabinets or sheds. The prohibition set forth in this section shall not apply to storage within any tank or container manufactured and a permanent part of any motorized vehicle owned by the residence, and the limitation placed upon the residence of the city by this section shall be in addition to the amount stored within such vehicles on the premises owned or occupied by the resident. Furthermore this provision shall not apply to the storage of heating and cooking oils and fuels stored in tanks and containers and connected with the appliances for which said fuels are stored.
